New command center to boost Tagbilaran’s security needs

TAGBILARAN CITY — The Tagbilaran City government has given the public a glimpse of its state-of-the-art command center that would boost the city’s security and crime prevention measures.

Jeanette Busano of the City Media Bureau said Saturday the command center would serve as a central intelligence unit and a monitoring hub with its huge LED wall.

The LED wall allows the monitoring of 48 strategic entry and exit points in the city with CCTV coverage.

Busano said she could not  provide the total cost of the project as of the moment as the command center is not yet complete.

The monitoring hub will help the city’s first responders in addressing traffic congestion and disaster and emergency situations.

The command center was built with the resiliency of the city in mind.

Gerard Lavadia of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said the command center would complement their existing disaster risk mitigation measures.

Recently, Tagbilaran installed LED signages in seven strategic locations for information dissemination especially for disaster mitigation.

The current city administration has been focused on disaster risk reduction as the city is prone to disasters such as flooding, earthquakes and other natural calamities. (Dave Albarado/PNA)
