MANILA — The NU Pep Squad returned to the top of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines cheerdance ladder after ruling this year’s competition in front of 20,117 people at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay on Saturday night.

Crashed out of the podium last year, NU Pep bounced back with a bang after its routine inspired by the Disney movie Coco garnered 711 points, way ahead of second placer FEU Pep Squad, whose 70’s-themed performance was good for 655.5 points.

Erstwhile champion Adamson Pep Squad barely made the podium once more as it edged out the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe by just 0.5 point for third place.

Adamson Pep’s Lion King-themed routine got 638.5 points, while Salinggawi’s Beyonce Knowles-inspired number got 638.0.

NU Pep dominated the night as it also took the group stunts title.

FEUCS also finished second and Adamson Pep third in the said contest.
