‘Odette’ affects 1.1-M families, 82 missing

More than one million families have been affected by Typhoon Odette.

According to a report by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the total number of affected families has hiked up to 1,139,148 or 4,456,846 individuals.

As of Dec. 31 morning, 1,147 individuals were injured, 82 are missing, and 405 were reported dead due to the typhoon.

The damage to infrastructures has been estimated at P16.715 billion, while the agricultural sector sustained P6.683 billion worth of damages.

NDRRMC Executive Director Ricardo Jalad denied that the agency was prioritizing voter-rich provinces.

“Ang basehan natin ng resource allocation ay – unang una ay ang pre-disaster assessment meeting natin ay nagka-identify ng mga high risk province. Ito ‘yung mga nakita nating hardest hit province,” he said. -Report from Bea Bernardo/PG
