The Office of the President (OP) will provide P15 million to the Pres. Corazon C. Aquino General Hospital (PCCAGH), also known as the Baseco Hospital, according to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

In a speech during a visit at the hospital in Port Area, Manila City on Thursday, Marcos commended the institution for accommodating about 7,308 patients since its Outpatient Department opened last Sept. 5.

“Ito ay ginawa ng local government. Kami naman sa national government, lahat ng suporta, lahat ng benepisyo na maaaring gawin ng pamahalaan ay gagawin natin,” the President said.

The three-story Baseco Hospital has a 50-bed capacity and is equipped with an emergency room and other modern medical equipment and facilities.

It is the seventh district hospital in Manila and serves residents of Baseco Compound, one of the city’s most marginalized communities.

Baseco residents who are registered under the PhilHealth may also avail of free primary care services through the Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP).

“Dito sa Baseco Hospital, puwede na ang lahat ng residente ng Baseco na maglibre sa konsultasyon, primary care check-up, diagnostic, at screening tests. Lahat po ito ay libre,” the Chief Executive said.

Marcos also reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving the delivery of healthcare services for Filipinos, citing several initiatives such as the YAKAP, zero balance billing policy, as well as the expanded benefits package of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth).

“Kaya’t ang pamahalaan po, ang administrasyon pong ito, ay ginagawa ang lahat upang mapatibay natin ang ating tinatawag na healthcare system,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, the President later led the distribution of school supplies and bags to more than 1,500 kindergarten and grade 1 students at Senator Benigno S. Aquino Jr. Elementary School.

Around 2,500 ChariTimbas from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) were also distributed to the residents of Baseco Compound. (with report from Cleizl Pardilla / PTV News)
