Orange warning up in Davao areas due to heavy rains

DAVAO CITY – The National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) raised an Orange Warning Level in Davao Region as the region continued to experience heavy rains since Saturday due to the trough of Low-Pressure Area (LPA) affecting the eastern section of Mindanao.

The Orange Warning was up in Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley Province, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, including Davao City, South Cotabato and Sarangani.

NDRRMC alerted residents in these areas for floods and landslides due to continued heavy rain.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in its advisory said moderate to occasional heavy rains will affect Davao Region.

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD 11) is keeping a close watch on the Saug River in Davao del Norte, and the Tuganay, Libuganon and Lasang rivers in Davao City, which may cause flooding in residential areas. (Lilian C. Mellejor/PNA)
