Order Hero, other online groups formed to help COVID-affected individuals

Due to the issue of non-appearance of customers and cancellation of orders in food delivery platforms, a group of young people have created the “Order Hero” Facebook group to help riders deal with cancelled orders.

Through the online group, riders can post unclaimed products due to a no-show or fake booking incident to which customers coined as “heroes” comment to “save” the riders.

Because of its advocacy, the group has reached more than 200,000 members.

“Sobrang nakakatuwa at sobrang overwhelming po ng response, ang dami pong nagpapasalamat at ang daming nagsasabi na sobrang laking tulong nito sa mga riders. Hindi po namin inexpect na darami ng ganito yung members ng grupo (The response is overwhelming. Many are grateful and some say this is a big help for riders. We did not expect the number of members to surge),” Order Hero admin Meann Ortiz said.

Aside from Order Hero, independent doctors have taken to social media their move to answer medical queries from Filipinos affected by the suspension of mass transportation and could not get to hospitals for a checkup.

Concerned citizens have also created a Facebook page as a venue for public to seek and help each other by exchanging helpful information for relief, legal, and other assistance. – Report from Naomi Tiburcio
