Over 1.4M aspirants file COC for BSKE

Over 1.4 million aspirants filed certificates of candidacy (COCs) for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on Oct. 30.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said a total of 1,414,487 aspirants filed their respective COCs for BSKE.

Of the figure, 96,962 are Punong Barangay aspirants; 731,682 are Member of Sangguniang Barangay aspirants; 92,774 are Chairperson of SK aspirants; and 493,069 are Member of SK aspirants.

Comelec noted a “significant increase” of aspirants as compared to the May 14, 2018 BSKE with a total number of 1,193,368 candidates.

“The results are more than what we can ask for. Our congratulations and much appreciation to everyone who joined and assisted us in this activity,” Comelec Chairperson George Garcia said.
