Over 200 healthcare workers vaccinated in Kawit

By Bernard Jauidian, Jr.

More than 200 healthcare workers (HCW) in Kawit, Cavite received their first dose of Sinovac vaccines today, after 364 doses of Sinovac arrived in the town yesterday.

According to Disease Surveillance Officer Nurse RA Rieta, 133 HCWs from private hospitals were vaccinated at the Binakayan Hospital and Medical Center (BHMC) and 146 others at San Pedro Calungsod Medical Center (SPCMC).

They are finalizing the list of workers from stand-alone clinics that are next in line to be vaccinated.

Rieta added that the municipal government target is to vaccinate 100 individuals per day.

Prior to this, a vaccination simulation was conducted by the Kawit Rural Health Unit that includes registration, counselling, screening, vaccination, and post-vaccination analysis to check for side effects.

She urged the public to have themselves vaccinated, saying vaccines are proven to be effective.

“Hindi po tayo mauuwi sa mas malalang kumplikasyon ng COVID-19 and sa death [We will not progress to severe COVID-19 complications and death],” Rieta said.

Rieta added that the municipal government has talked to various manufacturers about purchasing its own vaccines, but is still awaiting their replies.

Rosario and Cavite City have already conducted their first vaccination rollout this week, while other towns in Cavite are yet to receive their supply of vaccines.
