A buy-bust operation conducted by the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) on Saturday netted five high-value suspects and seized P176 million worth of illegal drugs in Barangay Napindan, Taguig City.
The PDEG operatives seized some 25.5 kilograms (kg) of suspected shabu, 1,770 grams of suspected kush or high-grade marijuana, and 140 pieces of green self-sealing e-cigarettes/marijuana oil karts with an estimated total standard drug price of P176.265 million.
“This achievement reaffirms the PNP’s commitment to professional, transparent, and responsive policing,” Acting PNP Chief PLt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said in a statement Sunday.
He added that the PNP is “not just after the numbers.”
“Layunin natin na maging mas ligtas ang bawat komunidad, and this is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s vision for a secure and peaceful Philippines,” Nartatez said.
He emphasized that the operation reflects the PNP’s Focus Agenda, strengthening the fight against illegal drugs while upholding the rule of law.
The arrested individuals are now in the custody of the Special Operations Unit of PDEG, while the seized evidence will undergo examination by the PNP Forensic Group.
Nartatez called on citizens to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and continue working together with authorities to build a safer, drug-free Philippines.
“The PNP is serious about dismantling illegal drug networks wherever they are,” he said. “And to every Filipino family, we promise to continue working for your safety.” (PNA)
