MANILA — The military, through the Philippine Air Force (PAF) Bids and Awards Committee, is allocating PHP24.23 million for the acquisition of spares needed for the maintenance of its Cessna C-208B Grand Caravan aircraft.

The aircraft is helpful in the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ conduct of internal security operations, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief as well as law enforcement and maritime patrol.

In a bid bulletin posted at the Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System, PAF Bids and Awards chair, Brig.Gen. Fernyl Buca said prospective bidders should have experience in a similar project within the last five years.

Submission and opening of bids is scheduled on Dec. 10, 9 a.m. at the PAF Procurement Center, Conference Room, Villamor Air Base, Pasay City.

Two Cessna C-208Bs were handed by the US government to the PAF in July of last year.

It has a cruising speed of around 170 knots and has a range of over 1,000 nautical miles and capable of transporting eight to nine persons, including the pilot.
