PAGASA warns Bicol officials of massive flooding, rainfall

LEGAZPI CITY—The country’s weather bureau warned Bicol officials, disaster responders and the public to be on guard for possible massive flooding and landslides as the region will be experiencing torrential rains brought by the tail end of the Cold Front.

For several weeks now Bicol region is experiencing heavy rainfall due to bad weather disturbance and so as thunderstorm.

The state weather bureau in Bicol, in an advisory, said that scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms will be experienced across the region and Northern Samar due to tail end of a cold front, which may cause possible flashfloods or landslides.

The localized thunderstorms bring torrential rains aggravated by tail end of the cold front here. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail along these areas, with moderate to rough seas.

Two motorized boats capsized Friday off Caramoan, Camarines Sur due to rough seas on Friday, authorities said.

Sr. Inspector Maria Luisa Calubaquid, Philippine National Police Region V spokesperson, said each motorized boat, manned by two persons, sailed together from Barangay Parobcan, Presentacion going to Barangay Gata, Caramoan but upon reaching Langkipaw Municipal Water of Barangay Ilawod, both boats capsized due to the rough sea.

Calubaquid said passengers of boat that capsized Friday were Amador Clores y Francisco, 54 years old; Ricky Clores, 45 year old; Felix Gianan , 15 years old and Lito Barwel all resident of Sitio Pawikan, Barangay Gata, Caramoan, Camamarines Sur.

She said Ricky and Amador were rescued at Honongan Resort Barangay Ilawod and Gianan in Barangay Paniman while Lito remains missing. (PNA)
