PAGASA: Wet Wednesday in Luzon due to shear line, ‘amihan’

By Ma. Cristina Arayata | Philippine News Agency

Rains will prevail across Luzon on Wednesday due to two weather systems.

Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, and Aurora will experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the shear line.

Rains caused by the northeast monsoon or “amihan”, on the other hand, will prevail over Apayao and Cagayan Valley.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said these areas may experience flooding or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains.

PAGASA, meanwhile, said the northeast monsoon would also cause light rains over the rest of Luzon.

Isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms will prevail over the Visayas and Mindanao.

Strong winds and rough seas will be experienced over Northern Luzon and the eastern section of Central and Southern Luzon.

The rest of Luzon and the Visayas will have moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas.

Rough to very rough seas are forecast over the seaboards of Northern Luzon, the eastern seaboards of Central Luzon, and the eastern and western seaboards of Southern Luzon.

PAGASA advised fishing boats and other small vessels not to venture into the sea, and larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

In Mindanao, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. – gb
