Press Secretary Atty. Trixie Cruz-Angeles said on Wednesday, July 6, that there are “no indications” yet from President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on the fate of the pending Vape Bill.
“The President has not indicated either way. So when you say that there are bills pending before the President, as you know, if no action is made then it lapses into law,” she said.
Angeles said that Marcos has issued “no comment” yet regarding the bill.
“So there has been no indication. The President has not commented on these bills right now,” she added.
The vape bill “seeks to regulate the importation, manufacture, sale, packaging, distribution, use, advertisement, promotion and sponsorship of Vaporized Nicotine Products to reduce the harm caused by smoking, promote, a healthy environment and protect the citizens from any potential hazards coming from the use of these consumer products.”
Several lawmakers and health advocates urged former President Rordrigo Duterte to veto the bill to protect the health of every Filipino. The calls to veto the law has the backing of the Department of Health. – ag
