Palacio de Maynila begins operation as a mega swab testing center today

Palacio de Maynila, one of the four mega swab testing centers of the government, will start its operation on Wednesday, May 6, where more than 20 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) have been scheduled to be tested in the said facility.

Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III, Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) President Vince Dizon, and National Task Force against COVID-19 Chief Implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. have led the inspection of Palacio de Maynila on Tuesday.

More than 60 testing booths will be supervised by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel.

According to NTF Chief Implementer Sec. Carlito Galvez, the OFWs will have their swab samples taken immediately after arrival. They will temporarily stay in the quarantine facility while waiting for their test results.

OFWs who test negative still need to complete a 14-day quarantine in order for them to return home and obtain a clearance from the Bureau of Quarantine.

The other mega swab testing centers in Mall of Asia, Enderun Tent and in the Philippine Arena are expected to operate in the next days. – PTV News
