LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO) launched the “One commendable act a day” (OCA) challenge, in line with the nationwide celebration of the Police Community Relations (PCR) Month of the Philippine National Police (PNP) this July.
PPO information officer, Chief Inspector Norman Florentino, in an interview with the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Monday, said the OCA will start this month but it will be a regular activity of the policemen.
On top of their regular duties and responsibilities, police officers are tasked to do a commendable act such as helping a senior citizen cross the street.
“We will tabulate the number of OCA in every station, and the policeman who gets the highest OCA and the unit (station) with highest total of OCA will be recognized respectively every end of the month,” Florentino said.
PPO will also conduct a gift-giving activity to 100 children of indigenous peoples in Barangay Mapita Aguilar on July 10. “We will give them rubber slippers and school supplies,” he said.
Florentino also invited Pangasinenses to watch the movie “Men in Uniform” on July 7 at SM Rosales and CSI Dagupan; and July 9 at Sison Auditorium and Alaminos City Coliseum. The film narrates the bravery of five police officers.
“Tickets are sold at PHP250 each and are available in the police stations,” Florentino said. The proceeds will be used to fund various projects of police stations in the Ilocos region including Pangasinan, he added.
“Men in Uniform” stars Jeric Raval, Rayver Cruz, Empress Schuck, Alfred Vargas and Rommel Padilla. Produced by Active Media Production in cooperation with PNP PCR Group and PNP Academy Class of 2006 (Bagsay-Lahi), it was directed by Neal Tan.
Meanwhile, other activities of the PPO in line with the PCR Month include tree planting in Lingayen on July 5 and in Sual on July 12; bloodletting and signing of memorandum of agreement with stakeholders. (Hilda Austria/PNA)
