Parts of Bohol being energized

MANILA, July 8 — The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) has reported that areas serviced by the Bohol Light Company Inc. (BLCI), including Tagbilaran City, are receiving power supply from the Bohol diesel power plant.

In an advisory issued Saturday, the NGCP said it continues to work on a bypass line to connect the Tabango Substation to the Ormoc Substation.

Once the connection is made, power from Cebu will flow to the Ormoc substation, and electricity will be restored in Bohol, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Biliran, and Samar, which remain without power.

The connection of the two substations is expected to be completed by Monday, the NGCP said.

Meanwhile, the Panay Energy Development Corp. (PEDC) and Palm Concepcion Power Corp. (PCPC) were reported to have shut down Saturday morning.

This, along with the outage of power plants in Leyte and the tripping of the East Asia Utilities Corp., which services Mactan, Cebu, may cause occasional power interruptions in Cebu, Negros, and Panay.

The NGCP however said power generation from solar plants in the region may be able to produce sufficient supply during the daytime. (NGCP advisory) via PNA
