Pasay councilor shot dead inside Las Piñas mall

MANILA, Aug. 6 — A Pasay City councilor was shot dead by unidentified assailants inside a mall in Las Piñas City on Saturday evening.

Southern Police District (SPD) Director Chief Supt. Tomas Apolinario identified the victim as Borbie Rivera, 39, who was shot by motorcycle-riding gunmen outside Door 4 of SM Southmall at around 8:30 p.m.

Apolinario said Rivera was rushed to Asian Hospital in Muntinlupa City but was declared dead on arrival around 8:57 p.m. due to gunshot wounds in his head and body.

The councilor had survived an ambush in Pasay City last June.

He added the suspects fled towards unknown direction onboard motorcycle withput plate number.

Apolinario noted that they are investigating whether Rivera could be tied to the illicit drug trade based on police records.

Last April 2015 , Rivera, also a Barangay Chairman of Barangay 112 in Pasay was arrested as listed as No. 1 in the SPD’s Top Ten Target Personalities.
