PBBM inspects Palayan City Township Project, KADIWA stalls in Nueva Ecija visit

As part of the government’s push to sustain its initiatives geared towards the agricultural sector, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. graced two events during his visit to Barangay Atate, Palayan City, Nueva Ecija on Thursday.

He began with an inspection of the Palayan City Township Project in the namesake locale, which is among the various projects being built under the administration’s expanded Pambansang Pabahay Para sa mga Pilipino (4PH) Program.

Said housing project comprises 44 towers that can accommodate 11,000 housing units perched on an 11-hectare township project—which also includes an elementary school, livelihood center, administrative offices, central park, basketball court, mini market, hawker, and aquaponics area.

The President then met with barangay captains and local government officials of Palayan City, who will receive P200,000 from the socio-civic project funds that would be used in various development initiatives to better serve their constituents. 

There, he met with ambulant vendors showcasing various locally produced agricultural products that are being sold directly to consumers, ensuring access to quality yet affordable food in support of those who bring food to Filipinos’ tables.

Some of these locally sourced commodities dispensed at KADIWA ng Pangulo stalls include black rice, onions, eggs, calamansi juice, mango juice, dried mangoes, corn, various vegetables, handicrafts, and local delicacies.

President Marcos Jr. wrapped up his engagements by facilitating the distribution of 100 10-kilogram sacks of rice to vendors, which comes as a timely intervention to the current situation.

Approximately 11,000 families are set to benefit from the rice distribution program, with indigent families and the marginalized sectors encouraged to submit an application at the City Social Welfare Development Office (CSWDO) and present a barangay clearance and certificate of indigency to avail of the 10kg sack of rice.

P5 million sourced from the city’s Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) was allocated towards the rice distribution initiative—P2.7 million of which is in support of the supplementary feeding program—with the remainder being allocated to the UPLIFT Response Network Program.
