President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. continues to place a premium on the welfare of military personnel, as he honors the 42 generals and flag officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and two graduates of the Foreign Pre-Commissioned Training Institutions (FPCTI).

In a ceremony on Thursday, the President hailed the newly-promoted officials as they rose above the ranks within the institution that upholds the integrity and sovereignty of the nation.

“The stars you bear shine more brightly today—as constant reminders of your obligations to protect our sovereignty, to uphold national security, and safeguard the freedoms of every Filipino.”

Marcos Jr. went on to elaborate on the various initiatives that the AFP undertook with allied nations, culminating in various training programs that bolstered the Southeast Asian nation’s military capabilities and the soldiers’ camaraderie with their foreign counterparts.

These activities moreover, equipped Filipino military personnel with the knowledge, skills, and expertise to effectively confront existing and emerging threats to national security.

President Marcos Jr., moreover, reiterated his earlier approval of the increase in the base pay of military and uniformed personnel (MUP), which underscores the administration’s appreciation of the hard work, dedication, and sacrifices of the nation’s security frontline personnel.

The Chief Executive reminded the officers, “May you always wear the stars on your shoulders as daily reminders of your duty to lead with integrity, to serve with humility, and, if necessary, fight for the Republic with honor and with courage.”
