President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. vowed on Tuesday, Dec. 20, to support the continued modernization of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
The President made this assurance during PAF’s Change of Command and Retirement Ceremony in honor of Lt.Gen. Connor Anthony Canlas Sr. at the Villamor Air Base.
Marcos said he expects the military to remain dedicated to building a secure and peaceful country.
“Be assured that this administration remains committed to the modernization of the Philippine Air Force and the entire Armed Forces of the Philippines,” Marcos said.
“I, therefore, ask you to remain dedicated to your duties and continue to work closely with this administration as we build a safe, peaceful, secure, peaceful country for the benefit of all Filipinos,” he added.
The President said the PAF’s efforts will help the country reach its goal of having a world-class air force “that keeps the peace and contributes to national development and regional security.”
He expressed confidence in Maj. Gen. Stephen Parreño, who will be the 39th commanding general of the PAF. He is expected to continue PAF’s current projects and strengthen PAF’s service to the country and the people.
Marcos also commended Canlas’ successful leadership for making the PAF more reliable and able to protect the nation’s airspace, and lauded the PAF for guarding the Philippine aerial domain and for delivering basic services. -ag
