PBBM saddened by death of two Filipinos in Israel; vows continued support to Filipinos

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. expressed sadness over the death of two Filipino nationals who were killed in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict as he denounced the violence and terror attacks.

The President likewise vowed continued support to affected Filipinos. 

“My heart is heavy upon hearing confirmation of the deaths of two Filipinos in Israel. The Philippines condemns these killings and stands firmly against the ongoing terror and violence,” President Marcos said in a statement. 

President Marcos added that the Philippine government will remain resolute in the pursuit of lasting peace in line with the United Nations (UN) resolutions and international laws.

The President also emphasized that the Philippine government will not cease sending support to affected overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and the Filipino community affected by the ongoing conflict between the Israeli forces and Hamas. 

Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Enrique Manalo confirmed on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday the killing of two Filipino nationals in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. 

“The Philippines condemns the killing of two Filipino nationals and all other acts of terrorism and violence as a result of Hamas actions against Israel,” Manalo stated. 

Prior to this, President Marcos already instructed the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) to locate and account for all OFWs and their families in Israel. 

The President has also instructed all the agencies involved in protecting the welfare of the OFWs and the Filipino community to work closely with the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv and the Migrant Workers Office (WMO) in Israel to ensure their safety. PND
