President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. continues to support institutional reforms that would bring long-overdue changes expected to rekindle the citizenry’s trust and confidence in the government.
Chief among these is an Anti-Political Dynasty Law, with the Supreme Court calling for Congress to prioritize the passage of this legislation.
In a briefing on Thursday, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said that while the high court is yet to issue a decision on the matter, President Marcos Jr. hopes the law will take effect before the end of his term.
“Alam na po natin na ito po ang isa sa mga priority bills ng Pangulo. Talagang ito po ay pinapamadali niya at gusto po niya hangga’t maaari sa panahon po niya ay maipasa ang anti-political dynasty law.” Meanwhile, when asked about whether Malacañang is satisfied with the progress of Anti-Political Dynasty Law, Usec. Castro deferred the timeline of its passage to the scheduling priorities of Congress.
She also underscored the need to strike the balance between the speedy passage of priority bills while ensuring that the core functions of the legislative body remain unhampered.
The Malacañang official concluded, “Nagkakaroon lang po ng maraming trabaho, hindi natin mabiblame ang mga kinatawan dito sa Kongreso dahil alam din po natin na marami din silang ginagawang trabaho at marami silang tinututukan na dapat ding unahin.” (with report from Kenneth Paciente | PTV News)
