Cognizant of the hard work and sacrifices of migrant workers, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) hosted the “Bagong Taong Salubong sa OFWs” at NAIA Terminal 1 on Tuesday, January 6.
In the program, 312 OFWs returning home from Kuwait received a warm welcome from OWWA and PCSO officials, including OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan and PCSO General Manager Mel Robles.
The PCSO led the distribution of ChariTimba packages to the OFWs, to help address their immediate needs and provide support for their families.
In a statement, GM Robles cited this initiative as proof of the government’s unwavering commitment to look after the welfare of the so-called “modern-day heroes.”
“PCSO stands as a partner to your families here in the Philippines, ready to assist and provide support while you continue to work abroad. We want to assure you that you are not alone.
As you strive to build a better future for your loved ones, PCSO remains committed to looking after the welfare of your families back home.”
OWWA likewise reaffirmed its support for Filipino migrant workers through the agency’s various welfare programs and support services.
