PDEA destroys tons of seized illegal drugs

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) destroyed on Thursday, June 2, a total of P14.29 billion worth of illegal drugs seized in a series of anti-narcotics operations.

PDEA Director General Wilkins Villanueva and Philippine National Police Officer-in-charge LtGen. Vicente Danao Jr. led the destruction of the seized drugs in a waste management facility in Trece Martires, Cavite.

The seized illegal drugs went through thermal decomposition.

According to Villanueva, the issuance of a court order for the destruction of drugs is a result of a smooth coordination with the court. The activity is in accordance with the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, Villanueva and Danao went to Dasmariñas, Cavite to check the seized P408 million worth of narcotic drugs weighing six kilograms from a PDEA-led joint operation with other authorities.

Another suspected 20 kilograms of shabu worth P136 million were also captured in General Trias, Cavite.  – Report from Patrick De Jesus/KC-ag
