MANILA — The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles is trying to find out if Filipinos were among the fatalities in the recent shooting incident in California that killed three and injured four others.
The shooting took place at a bowling alley in Torrance, about 32 kilometers south of Los Angeles, late Friday (late Saturday afternoon in Manila).
Consul General Adelio Angelito Cruz said initial reports indicate that the shooting ensued following a brawl between two groups inside the Gable House Bowl.
No arrests were immediately reported after the incident.
According to Cruz, authorities are still trying to identify the suspects.
In a statement on Saturday, Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Elmer Cato said the Department of Foreign Affairs continues to monitor the situation in the area.
At present, there are approximately 4,000 Filipinos in Torrance, a coastal city with a population of 150,000.
