PH Dengue cases drop in 2020

The number of Dengue cases in the country has dropped dramatically this year.

Data from the DOH show a 76-percent decline with 59,675 cases from January 1 to August 15 compared to the recorded cases in the same period in 2019 that reached 430,282.

The Department of Health (DOH) guarantees that it will continue to monitor the threat brought about by Dengue despite the reported downslide.

The DOH also assures that health workers are undergoing training and that suspected COVID-19 patients will not be mixed with individuals showing Dengue symptoms amid similarities in symptoms.

A 59-percent drop in the number of Leptospirosis cases in the country from January 1 to August 15 was also recorded.

The health department reminds the public to be cautious against Dengue and advises applying the search and destroy method or the cleaning of areas where Dengue-causing mosquitoes thrive.
