After recently bagging 3 awards at the World Travel Awards 2025, the Department of Tourism (DOT) hailed the country’s recognition as Asia’s Best Retirement Destination at the 11th TripZilla Excellence Awards.

In a statement Monday, Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco underscored the accolade as indicative of strong growth within the tourism industry that makes the Philippines a viable destination for those seeking for foreign retirees and returning overseas Filipinos to settle down for good.

Secretary Frasco said, “This award affirms what the global community increasingly sees—the Philippines is not only a beautiful place to visit, but a place to call home.”

She likewise noted the various assets that helped shape the country as a competitive global retirement hub, such as the culture of hospitality, and world-class healthcare facilities, among others.

“Beyond its globally renowned natural beauty, the Philippines continues to distinguish itself through its welcoming communities, English-speaking population, favorable climate, and internationally recognized healthcare facilities.”

Other awards bestowed by TripZilla include the Best Dive Destination, Destination of the Year, and Sustainability Leader of the Year.
