PH, USA sign ₱38 M grant agreement for BIR digitalization

The Philippines and the United States of America (USA) signed a ₱38 million grant agreement that aims to develop the digitalization of the Bureau of International Revenue (BIR).

The ceremony was attended by Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Carlos Dominguez III along with US Embassy Charge D’ Affaires John Law. The grant agreement worth ₱38 million or $809,000 aims to modernize the IT system of the BIR as part of the agency’s program to lessen face-to-face transactions. It is expected that through this system, more tax payers will pay online. It can be recalled that the BIR tax collection has dropped in 2020 due to the global health crisis.
