PhilHealth to provide compensation package following vax injuries

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) rolls out the vaccine injury compensation package for patients who will experience severe adverse effects due to COVID-19 inoculation.

In a Laging Handa public briefing on Tuesday (July 6), PhilHealth Vice President Shirley Domingo said that eligible beneficiaries will receive up to ₱100,000 compensation for hospitalization for all case rates.

“Ngayon, kung naman matuloy up to a permanent disability or death, huwag naman po sana, pero kung matuloy po sa ganoon then P100,000 rin – one time P100,000 rin ay ibibigay po,” Domingo added.

Some adverse events of special interest include anaphylaxis, thrombocytopenia, generalized convulsions, Guillain Barré Syndrome, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and acute cardiovascular injury.

Multisystem inflammatory syndrome can also be an adverse event after inoculation, which can occur to children and adults. – Report from Alvin Barcelona / CF – rir
