Phivolcs: No tsunami threat following 7.3-magnitude quake in Sarangani

There is no tsunami threat following the magnitude 7.3 earthquake that jolted Sarangani, Davao Occidental Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 18, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

In an advisory, Phivolcs said there is no tsunami threat to the Philippines following the tectonic quake that hit 352 kilometers southeast of Sarangani at 2:06 p.m.

“Based on data provided by the Sea Level Monitoring Station in Mati City, Davao Oriental, no sea level changes were monitored,” Phivolcs said.

Phivolcs earlier warned of aftershocks and damages.
