PNP Chief hails recovery of close to P17-M ecstasy in QC

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Police General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar hailed the confiscation of more than P16-million worth of ecstasy in a joint anti-illegal drug operation in Quezon City.

According to the National Capital Region Police Office, a total of 9,948 ecstasy tablets, worth P16,911,600 were recovered during the controlled delivery operation last Friday (Nov. 5) along BMA Street corner Batulao Street in Barangay Tatalon which resulted in the arrest of suspect Elisha Mae llas.

The said operation was conducted by elements from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 3; the Clark Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group; PDEA-SIU SBMA; PDEA-SIU BATAAN; PDEA-NCR; the Quezon City Police District; and the Bureau of Customs, Port of Clark.

Ilas is facing charges of violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Acts of 2002.

“I commend our law enforcers who have successfully stopped the proliferation of these ecstasy tablets worth nearly P17 million. Dahil sa maayos na koordinasyon sa pagitan ng mga ahensya, napigilan ang pagkalat ng mga ecstasy tablets na ito sa Quezon City at sa ibang bahagi ng Metro Manila,” Eleazar said.

“Inatasan ko ang kapulisan na magsagawa ng mas malalim na imbestigasyon sa background nitong nadakip na suspek upang matukoy kung saang grupo o sindikato siya kabilang at nang mahuli natin ang iba pa niyang mga kasabwat,” he added.

The Chief PNP said the suspect could be part of a huge drug syndicate involved in supplying and distributing illegal drugs in Metro Manila. (PNP-PIO) – bny
