DAVAO CITY — The Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) commander said a new anti-criminality drive implemented in the city would lead to a safer environment for Dabawenyos.

Supt. Maximo Sebastian, RMFB commander, said Thursday that Oplan Kidlat or “Krimen Iwasan, Droga Labanan At Terorismo” is a focused anti-criminality, target hardening, and public safety program in areas of convergence.

Sebastian sees Oplan Kidlat as a “weapon against the imminent threats of terrorism, criminality, and illegal drugs.”

“It is designed to suppress different atrocities with its integrated array of approach that will definitely address the demand for sustainable peace and order,” he said.

Sebastian said Oplan Kidlat started early this week at the Bankerohan Public Market where 104 personnel of RMFB were deployed for a maximum of 10 days during rush hours (3 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.) to conduct anti-criminality drive.

This involves beat patrolling, police assistance desk, and providing informational materials about security awareness, as well as establishing an information network to strengthen anti-crime measures.

Under Oplan Kidlat, Sebastian said police personnel will provide public safety services, such as traffic law enforcement and even assist in solid waste management, community assistance, implementation of local ordinances, and series of lectures to engage community members in policing work.

Oplan Kidlat was an initiative of Chief Supt. Marcelo Morales, Regional Police Director, in collaboration with other local and national agencies, such as the City Environment and Natural Resources, Land Transportation Office, Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams, the Association of Barangay Captains, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
