Since blended learning will be observed for academic year 2020-2021, Brigada Eskwela will be focusing on providing appropriate devices for students, disinfection of rooms, and psychological first aid for learners.
“’Yung atin pong tradisyunal na konsepto ng pagbi-brigada…paglilinis, pagpipintura, ay hindi na po mangyayari ngayon (The traditional concept of brigada like cleaning and painting will no longer take place),” DepEd USec. Tonisito Umali said.
Umali added there have been commitments to provide gadgets to learners.
Meanwhile, school division offices such as in Caloocan and Makati have been using online apps or google forms at the onset of enrolment since face-to-face enrolment is not yet allowed. There are also kiosk machines that have been set up in some barangay centers and schools to help facilitate remote enrolment but DepEd USec. Nepomuceno Malaluan said they cannot be activated yet for the meantime to prevent movement of people. The guidelines for those not reached by remote enrolment will be released in the next few days.
Meanwhile, the CHED continues providing massive training of teachers on flexible learning and is considering possible tuition fee adjustment for schools and universities in the country. – Report from Mica Joson
