Pres. Duterte commends DENR Chief over Manila Bay rehab

President Rodrigo R. Duterte has commended Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Roy Cimatu for his efforts on the beautification of Manila Bay.

The President defended the “artificial white sand” project of the DENR at the Manila Bay stating that it is part of the area’s rehabilitation. He was also pleased that the project benefits the public.

“Napabilib niya ako when he accepted my dare. Hinamon ko siya, sabi ko, ‘Kaya mo?’ Sabi niya, “Kaya ko, basta trabahuin lang. (He impressed me when he accepted my dare. I challenged him, I asked him, ‘Can you do it?’ He replied “I can, I just need to work it out ”). It was a very positive statement, it was even not a neutral thing or a thing that would border to speculative, kaya basta kayanin ko (I can do it). And people are now enjoying the benefits of the determined action of a cabinet member to do good.” – Report from Mela Lesmoras
