Pres. Duterte shares grief with families of soldiers in chopper crash

President Rodrigo R. Duterte extended his sympathies to the families of the 7 soldiers who died in a helicopter crash in Bukidnon Saturday.

According to President Duterte, he wished to personally visit the remains of the soldiers but had to forego of it after learning that they were sent to their respective families.

“I share your grief. Alam ko kung gaano na lang ganoon ang sakripisyo ng sundalo para sa bayan nila (I know how much the soldiers sacrifice for their country). They died as heroes. And we are giving them one of the highest awards sa Presidente (from the President) is the Order of Lapu-Lapu,” he commiserated.

He also assured the soldiers’ families that, “hindi ko kayo pababayaan (I will not desert you). You will not be abandoned. Aalalayan ko kayo (I will assist you).” – Report from Mela Lesmoras
