President Duterte witnesses San Beda’s change of status

President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday, May 9, witnessed the Commission on Higher Education (CHED)’s turn over of the Certificate of University status to San Beda University in a ceremony in Malacañan.

CHED Officer-in-Charge Prospero de Vera III handed over the Certificate of University status to San Beda University Chairman Very Reverend Fr. Aloysius Maranan.

The certificate attests that San Beda University has fully complied with the requirements set by CHED on policy standards to enhance quality assurance in the Philippine higher education.

Among those present during Wednesday’s event were Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, San Beda University board of trustees, administrators, as well as San Beda alumni and golfers.

CHED approved San Beda’s application to university status last February 6, 2018.

San Beda University was founded in 1901 by Benedictine monks. President Duterte is an alumnus of San Beda College of Law. (PND)
