MANILA — Biking priest Fr. Amado Picardal will be holding the ‘Bike for Peace’ campaign from Manila to Mindanao starting Wednesday.

According to the 64-year-old priest, he will be riding his bike from north to south of the country, with a distance of 1,500 km., for 15 days.

Picardal will also say a Mass in a church where he will be staying.

“I’ll be preaching about message of life and peace,” he said in an interview over Church-run Radio Veritas 846.

A send-off mass will be held at the Baclaran Church at 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

With this, Picardal invited the public to follow his advocacies and to join him in his Bike for Peace campaign.

“I’d like to appeal to people to support my calls to end extrajudicial killings and let us focus on the healing and to resume the peace talks and end martial law in Mindanao,” he added.

Running priest Fr. Robert Reyes is expected to join the event.

Picardal, who is from Iligan City, is the executive director of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines-Episcopal Committee on Basic Ecclesial Community (CBCP-ECBEC).

It was in 2008 when he began his biking mission. The recent one was in 2014.

At that time, the Catholic priest urged the public to be wary of the effects of “climate change” that causes damage to the country due to typhoons Sendong (2011), Pablo (2012), Yolanda, and Ruby (2013). (PNA)
