PRRD asks public to stay resilient in his Independence Day message

In his message for Independence Day, President Rodrigo R. Duterte asked the public to stay resilient to overcome the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, it is unavoidable that people gather around the President.

For everyone’s safety, the Chief Executive decided to send a message and tasked Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea to represent him in the celebration at the Rizal Park.

Meanwhile, a celebration was also held at the Barasaoin Church in Malolos, Bulacan where officials of the province once gathered in 1898 to ratify the constitution that signaled the establishment of the first Republic of the Philippines in 1899.

“Dapat po nating pahalagahan ang ipinaglaban ng ating mga ninuno. Although mayroon po tayong pandemic, ngayon na dapat ay maging malaya tayo sa sakit na ito. Sabay -sabay po natin itong labanan kasabay ng paglaya na ipinaglaban ng ating mga ninuno (We must give importance to what our ancestors fought for. Although we are currently facing a pandemic now that we are supposed to be free from this virus, together, we shall fight for this freedom just like the liberation that our ancestors fought for),” Bulacan Gov. Daniel Fernando stated.
