MANILA — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Tuesday advised vacationers not to post their travel information on social networking sites during the Holy Week that may give criminals an idea of their whereabouts.
“We have been repeating this time and again, especially to our parents to please manage our children using the social media to please not use the ATM, at the moment… you know, #ATM, itinerary,” NCRPO spokesperson, Supt. Kimberly Molitas, said in a Palace media briefing Tuesday.
Molitas urged netizens not to post their tickets, passports, flight itinerary on social media throughout the Holy Week.
“You can always post it after (Holy Week) for our security specially our children. We remind everyone to please be cautious of your security,” Molitas said.
“On our experience, posting of this itinerary allows also criminals to monitor if you are not in your house,” she added.
She said the NCRPO has deployed a total of 12,000 police personnel including 400 soldiers to provide security throughout Metro Manila during the country’s observance of Holy Week.
Molitas said police personnel will secure places of convergences like transportation hubs, roads and highways, malls, airports, seaports and transport terminals.
“We have also 25,000 force multipliers, some 12,000 barangay tanods and 9,000 blue guards who are helping us this Semana Santa,” Molitas said.
She said 1,000 workers of the Department of Health and Red Cross have also been deployed to address health issues, including heat stroke and dehydration.
“We have placed over a thousand covert operatives who will address issues on terrorism and intelligence gathering,” the official said.
Molitas, however, clarified that they have not monitored any threat in Metro Manila.
“We have placed a bulk of officers on our route security, because we also would like to address the needs of our tourists,” she said.
She said police personnel will also help the Metro Manila Development Authority in managing the traffic in Metro Manila. (Jelly Musico/PNA)
