Rain showers to prevail across Luzon, parts of Visayas

The shear line and the northeast monsoon dampen Luzon and some areas in the Visayas on Thursday, the weather bureau said.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are forecast over Bicol Region and the provinces of Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, Aklan, Capiz and Northern Samar due to the shear line.

Rains caused by the northeast monsoon are also likely in the Cagayan Valley and the provinces of Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, Laguna and Oriental Mindoro.

These areas may possibly experience flooding or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

The northeast monsoon will also cause light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

Isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country.

Meanwhile, Northern Luzon, the eastern section of Central and Southern Luzon, and Eastern Visayas will experience strong winds and rough seas.

Rough to very rough seas are forecast over the seaboards of Northern Luzon, eastern and western seaboards of Southern Luzon, eastern seaboards of Central Luzon and the eastern seaboards of Visayas.

PAGASA advised fishing boats and other small seacraft not to venture into the sea, and larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

The rest of Luzon and the Visayas will continue to have moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas still prevail over Mindanao, PAGASA said. – gb
