Region 11 COVID-19 facility utilization reach warning stage

The Department of Health (DOH) in Region 11 disclosed that the utilization capacity of COVID-19 facilities in the region has reached warning stage due to increasing number of COVID-19 cases.

DOH 11 Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU) Head Dr. Cleo Fe Tabada said a utilization capacity that exceeds 30 percent is considered a warning sign.

As of August 19, the utilization of COVID-19 ward beds reached 60.49 percent, while the occupancy for isolation beds and ICU beds are at 39.47 percent and 41.86 percent, respectively.

Beds allocated for severe cases are at 43.54 percent utilization rate and beds for severe and critical cases are at 43.38 percent. Tabada explained the growth in utilization rate is brought about by the proactive move of residents within the region. It was added that individuals who experience mild symptoms of COVID-19 immediately seek help.

, Southern Philippines Medical Center assured that it has not yet meet the warning stage.
