Retired Corporal Winston Ragos laid to rest at Libingan ng mga Bayani

Retired Corporal Winston Ragos has been interred at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on Sunday, April 26. The Philippine Army (PA) gave Ragos Full Military Honors for his 7 years of service to the country.

However, his family is seeking justice for his untimely death after he was shot by Police Master Sergeant Daniel Florendo Jr. in Quezon City last week. Florendo has been charged with homicide by the Philippine National Police (PNP) but the PA has asked the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to do an impartial investigation.

According to PA Spokesperson Colonel Ramon Zagala, the family has coordinated with the NBI.

Despite this, the PA’s relationship with the PNP will not be affected. “We continue to support the Philippine National Police and our relationship with the PNP will always be strong,” Col. Zagala has assured.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Army has been considering the health care policies of their out-of-service personnel after the unfortunate incident with Ragos who was retired from the service due to schizophrenia. The organization has also assured that it prioritizes the mental health of soldiers. – Report from Bea Bernardo
