Roque denies asking Leachon to resign

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque clarified in a press briefing that he did not ask Dr. Anthony Leachon to resign from his post as special adviser of the National Task Force against COVID-19.

Secretary Roque pointed out it was President Rodrigo R. Duterte who stated that Leachon must have not done what he did recently. Leachon issued statements that seemed to show every one of them is lying except himself. Sec. Roque pointed out that the government is always transparent.

On the appeal of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) to postpone the implementation of the Universal Health Care Act, the presidential spokesperson challenged that if the current management of the agency cannot implement the law, which has been certified as urgent by the President, it is better to look for others who can do it. The execution of the law is important especially amid the health crisis.

Meanwhile, Sec. Roque announced that 1.3 million families in different parts of the Philippines have received the second tranche of SAP and the distribution is still ongoing. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
