Southwest monsoon to bring rains over parts of Luzon, W. Visayas

MANILA — The southwest monsoon affecting the northern and western sections of Luzon will bring scattered rains over Metro Manila and other parts of the island, the weather bureau said Saturday.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila, Ilocos, Cordillera region, Cagayan Valley region, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro, Palawan and in western Visayas.

The rest of the country, on the other hand, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to “localized thunderstorms”, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds will blow over the northern and western sections of Luzon. Coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to strong.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (Ma. Cristina Arayata/PNA)
