The Western Command wishes to inform the public that Ms. Chiara Zambrano of ABS-CBN and her crew are now safely back in the Palawan mainland, following the incident that transpired in the vicinity of Ayungin Shoal.

Relatedly, WESCOM will conduct an inquiry on the circumstances attendant to the alleged harassment of a Filipino watercraft which they boarded within the Philippine EEZ. With Ms Zambrano’s collaboration and cooperation, WESCOM will be able to establish the circumstances and document the incident so that we can also determine the next course of action.

In such an incident of grave concern, WESCOM reiterates its commitment to perform to the best of its ability its mandate to protect the people and secure our sovereignty and sovereign rights in its area responsibility. (PR)
