“Bagong Pilipino, Tara, Nood Tayo!”

It’s that time of the year again when Filipino films take the spotlight and take over theaters nationwide—yes, it’s Christmas Day and it marks the beginning of the annual Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF)!

As such, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) called on the public—whether casual moviegoers or cinephiles—to support the eight entries in this year’s MMFF, which highlights diverse stories in “a new era for Philippine cinema.”

In a video message Thursday, MTRCB Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto urged viewers, particularly parents and guardians, to use the MTRCB classification ratings as a guide in choosing films that are appropriate for family viewing.

“Ngayong… Pasko, inaanyayahan ko ang lahat na panoorin ang lahat ng pelikulang kasali sa Metro Manila Film Festival 2025,” Sotto said. “Sama-sama po tayong mag-enjoy sa walong pelikulang inihanda sa inyo ng MMFF.”

The 51st MMFF entries are:

  • “I’m Perfect” – Rated G (General Audience)
  • “Bar Boys: After School” – Rated PG (Parental Guidance)
  • “Call Me Mother” – Rated PG
  • “Love You So Bad” – Rated PG
  • “Manila’s Finest” – Rated PG
  • “Rekonek” – Rated PG
  • “Unmarry” – Rated PG
  • “Shake, Rattle and Roll: Evil Origins” – Rated R-13

Rated G is given to films which are deemed suitable for viewers of all ages, while PG is for movies that are still suitable for viewers aged 13 or below but need to be accompanied by their parents or guardians.

R-13, on the other hand, is given to films that are only suitable for viewers aged 13 and above due to their content, such as violence or strong language.

Meanwhile, the MMFF 2025 “Gabi ng Parangal,” or awards night, will be held on Dec. 27.
