‘Top shabu retailers’ in Region 2 arrested in Bulacan

SAN ILDEFONSO, Bulacan — Two alleged major shabu retailers in Region 2, composed of provinces of Cagayan, Batanes, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino, were apprehended in a buy-bust operation in this town Wednesday.

Senior Supt. Romeo Caramat Jr., Bulacan police director, identified the suspects as Carol and Ariane both surnamed Manzano and residents of Barangay Maligaya, Santiago City, Isabela.

Police investigators claimed the duo to be top suppliers of illegal drugs in Cagayan Valley region.

“Police were able to confiscate from the duo a total of 161 plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 111.15 grams,” Caramat said.

Police believed that the suspects were supposed to deliver the prohibited drugs in this town.

Meanwhile, six drug suspects were apprehended in buy-bust operations on the same day in the towns of Calumpit, Hagonoy, Bocaue, Balagtas, and Baliwag.

A total of 20 plastic sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia, and buy-bust money were seized from the six suspects.

Charges for violation of Section 5, 11 and 15 of RA 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act were filed against the six suspects.

Caramat said that the series of operations were in line with the marching orders of Central Luzon regional police director Chief Supt. Amador C. Corpus to provincial police units to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs and other crimes. (PNA)
