Nearly 100 people have died in Northern India after drinking tainted bootleg liquor.
Officials says dozens more people are in hospitals recovering from the toxic brew.
The deaths occurred in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Authorities suspect bootleggers mixed the alcohol with methanol — a cheap but toxic form of alcohol — to increase the liquor’s potency and their profit.
Officials say around 3,000 people have been arrested in recent days in an attempt to stem the sale of the deadly mixture.
