Typhoon Ambo makes landfall on Eastern Samar

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is continuously monitoring Typhoon Ambo that has made its landfall over San Policarpio, Eastern Samar at 12:15 P.M., Thursday.

Based on the confirmation of PAGASA, the typhoon will tread on Sorsogon Thursday night.

Signal no. 3 has been hoisted over Sorsogon, Albay, Ticao Island, Northern Samar and, Northern parts of Eastern Samar.

Signal no. 2 has been raised over the Southern parts of Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Burias Island, Masbate, Marinduque, Biliran, and the rest of Samar and Eastern Samar.

Signal no. 1 has been raised over Aurora, the Southern portion of Nueva Ecija, Metro Manila, Cavite, the rest of Quezon, Romblon, Bataan, Pampanga, and the Northern portion of Leyte.

According to PAGASA, Metro Manila will not be directly hit by the typhoon but will affect the metro due to its wide radius.

Storm surges in coastal areas may also occur. PAGASA reminds residents in affected areas to take safety measures for possible floods and landslides due to heavy rains brought by Typhoon Ambo.

Meanwhile, PAGASA continues coordinating with other government agencies for vital information needed for preparation.

The typhoon is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Tuesday morning. – Report from Daniel Manalastas
