The Universal Peace Federation (UPF), an NGO holding general consultative status with the United Nations, will conduct a third Rally of Hope this weekend. The event will be virtual with the production center in South Korea. It starts at 8:00 a.m. (Manila standard time) on Sunday, Nov. 22nd. The theme is the “Rally of Hope for the Realization of a Heavenly Unified World.”
The November 22nd Rally of Hope is special insofar as it will commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Korean War and honor those veterans who served in that conflict. Among 58 nations under the UN coalition that joined forces to liberate South Korea, The Philippines sent a total of 7,420 soldiers to serve in the war and was the first Asian country and third in the world after the United States and United Kingdom to send troops. As of this day, there are 140 Filipino Korean War veterans living.
Although the Rally of Hope will reflect on the tragic significance of the Korean War and honor those who sacrificed themselves, it is our broader hope and aspiration to promote peace and development for the sake of the eventual re-unification of the entire Korean peninsula.
A consistent sub-theme of all three Rallies, as well as UPF’s World Summit series, is that of interdependence, mutual prosperity and universal values. Respectively, it means an economy of parity shared interdependently, a governing system that is transparent and participatory, and a common set values based on the extended family. UPF is committed to abolishing racial discrimination, eradicating poverty and starvation, and ending religious conflict.
This Rally will be a dazzling display of digital technology from the land of K pop where a live internet audience of millions will join an interactive audience via various social media apps.
In addition to featuring prominent global leaders, there will be world-class entertainment from the renowned Little Angels Folk Ballet of Korea as they perform a special tribute in honor of veterans of the Korean War.
One of the stated UPF objectives according to its website is the “peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula and harmonious relations among the nations of Northeast Asia.” Towards this goal, UPF is creating the vision of a global democratic, free-market-driven society, centered on the universal values emerging from the family. The co-founder of UPF, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, rightly called the Mother of Peace has been a featured speaker at all three Rallies.
The public may register to attend the rally live.
